Longest Bike in the World

It has been to our attention that the longest bike in the world, officialy registered by Guiness record book is from Russia.It’s creator Oleg “Leshij” Rogov was from Tver city, a small town near Moscow city. He was a big biker fan since his childhood. One day he has got an idea to build the longest bike in the world, according to his own story “probably after he got too much  beer inside”.

So after two years of planning and delaying he did it. He built the bike that was 31 feet 4 inches long (9 metres 57 cm). After the thing was ready he sent his claim to the Guiness book and got registered as longest bike in the world.



The saddest part of the story is that he got into accident and died this summer, still we have the photos of his creation, it would be some kind of tribute to him.

Nearly 6,000 people who formed a massive human peace sign in Ithaca are hoping their effort is good enough for the Guinness Book of World Records.

Guinness doesn't have a peace sign category, said Guinness spokeswoman Jamie Panas. But if it decides to add one, the Ithaca group would claim the record, said Trevor Dougherty, a sophomore at Ithaca High School who organized the event as a follow-up to a YouTube video he filmed called "Stand Up for World Peace."

Dougherty said Ithaca will ask Guinness to sanction its record of 5,814 people.

Panas said Guinness researches all new record proposals and uses its discretion on what to accept as new categories. Records must be measurable, verifiable and breakable and must serve the public's interest, she said.

Each year, Guinness receives about 65,000 inquiries from people wanting to set or break records, according to its Web site. It usually takes four to six weeks to decide on a record application, the Web site said. Guinness counts more than 40,000 records.

Dougherty told The Ithaca Journal a video of Sunday's event will be released on Youtube.com within the next few weeks.

The event capped the three-day Ithaca Festival.

KANPUR, India -- A man in northern India has been recognized by Guinness World Records as having the world's longest ear hair.

The tufts coming out of the man's ears measured more than 5 inches when he set the record in 2003.

The hair has now grown to nearly 10 inches. In fact, the hair is so long he has to shampoo and comb it.

He was granted a certificate from Guinness to certify him as the record-holder.

World's oldest person celebrated her 115th birthday:
Edna Parker, the Guinness World Record holder as the world's oldest person celebrated her 115th birthday on Sunday.

Born in April 20, 1893, She was recognized as the world's oldest person by the Guinness World Records last August after the death of the Japanese Yone Minagawa at the age of 114, four months her senior.

Surrounded by family, friends and well-wishers, Parker patiently sat in her wheelchair, her legs covered in a blanket, as she received gifts from Franklin College President Jay Moseley and other officials at the town.

Edna Parker is a 1911 graduate of Franklin College. She gave up her teaching career for the life of a farmer's wife.

Two years ago, researchers took a blood sample from Parker for the group's DNA database of about 100 other people who reached the 110-year milestone.

Scientists who study longevity hope that Parker can help unlock the secrets to long life.

According to the Gerontology Research Group, a California-based organization that verifies reports of extreme ages, there are only 75 people alive - 64 women and 11 men - that are 110 or older.

According to the Guinness Book of Records, the Cassowaries are the world’s most dangerous birds, capable of dealing fatal blows.
They are very unpredictable, aggressive creatures, especially if wounded or cornered.
This bird can take care of itself, but, unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to help it very much against human cruelty and it is on the endangered species list, along with so many others…The Cassowary lives in the rain forests of Australia and New Guinea and are actually pretty shy animals if undisturbed, but if you get to close and it thinks you’re a threat you could receive a bone-breaking kick or get sliced by its dagger-like sharp claws.During WWII, soldiers stationed in New Guinea were warned to stay away from these birds, but some of them still became victims. The Cassowary is also one of the most difficult animals to keep in the Zoo because of the frequent injuries suffered by Zoo keepers that look after them.
