Browser Shortcuts - Speed Up Your Surfing:
Ctrl + Enter
When you type "orkut" into the address bar and press Ctrl + Enter, you will be automatically taken to http://www.orkut.com.
This is a very useful shortcut, you’ll thank it from saving you from typing in all those www.’s and .com’s when you just want to get to somewhere.
Alt + Ctrl + Enter will open the site you want in a new tab.
But what if you want to get to a .org? Such as Wikipedia? Well, the answer is simple. Press Shift + Ctrl + Enter.
This is quite a handy shortcut. It lets you close a browser tab without reaching for the tiny red x with your mouse.
So, the next time you’re surfing in Firefox and need to close something fast, remember - Ctrl + W !
A Shift + Enter will take you to a .net, like xptricks.net! So the next time you want to visit, just type xptricks and press the magic keys. Bookmarking me will also do just fine ;) (Press Ctrl + D to bookmark)

iPod speaker docks as well as Internet radios are getting more and more common these days, and today we’ll look at a couple of these courtesy of iBlik.
iBliks represent the next generation of do-it-all home audio, and they really can do the lot, bar make the tea and self-destruct when Chris Moyles comes on. Totally idiot-proof, both the iBlik Wi-Fi and iBlik RadioStation are capable of accessing thousands of internet radio stations from around the world, so you can listen to pop from Paris, talk shows from Tashkent and metal from Milwaukee. And those are just our insipid alliterative examples. All you need is a Wi-Fi or wired broadband connection and the world is your lobster. Or something like that. The luxe RadioStation even receives DAB and DAB+ radio, so you can listen to snap, crackle and pop-free digital broadcasts. In fact the RadioStation is the world’s first gizmo to combine all of these functions in one box.

Vodafone Connect to Friends: SMS from Facebook
I love it when companies get together to create a combined service, and being the Facebook addict that I am, I’m particularly excited about this. The new Vodafone Connect to Friends service will let you send texts and picture messages directly from Facebook. To get started, all you need to do is install the ‘Vodafone Connect to Friends’ application to your Facebook profile (don’t lie, I know you’ve got one) and you’re ready to arrange catch-ups with mates to your heart’s content.
This application is far more useful than all of those pointless quizzes that let you discover what kind of colour you are. Vodafone Connect to Friends allows users to send messages not only to their online Facebook friends but also to non-Facebook users and groups.
Fear not if you’re an Orange or O2 fan, this application can be used by anyone regardless of their choice of UK mobile operator. An added advantage of this service is that if you decide to head off to Mumbai, New York, or anywhere else in the world for a holiday, you can still text your mates from overseas at UK rates.
Once you subscribe, Vodafone provides a handy 25 free text credits to get you started. When you’ve run out of credit after arguing about which Pizza Express to meet at, you can top up again through their online payment system Pay4it.
If you’re already a Vodafone prepaid user, you can get any additional credits deducted straight away from your topup account. Alternatively if you’ve not feared a long-term relationship with your phone company and have a contract, you will see additional credits on your monthly bill.

Vodafone UK is trialling a unique service that enables all UK mobile users to send text messages from their Facebook profile to friends. The pilot service will be extended later this month to also include picture messages.
Vodafone Connect to Friends lets Facebook users send texts and picture messages without having to switch from PC to mobile simply by installing the ‘Vodafone Connect to Friends’ application to their Facebook profile. The application allows users to send messages not only to their online Facebook friends but also to non-Facebook users and groups. Vodafone Connect to Friends can be used by anyone regardless of their choice of UK mobile operator.
Once people subscribe, Vodafone provides 25 free text credits to get customers started. Further messaging credits can be bought securely via the online payment system Pay4it.
Prepay customers will get any additional credits deducted straight away from their topup accounts. Contract customers will see additional credits on their monthly bill highlighted as “Vodafone Connect to Friends.” An added advantage of this service is that travellers can also text their friends from overseas at UK rates.

Google released its first ever Internet browser in a long-awaited move that increased pressure on Microsoft and laid a new foundation for a mass transition to web-based computing.

A test version of the new software, named Google Chrome, was made available for download in more than 100 countries Tuesday. The open-source browser had been in secret development for over two years at the search engine giant.
According to Google, Chrome is less demanding than current browsers on the memory and chips which run computers. The main new features include a new Javascript engine called V8 that executes functions through the browser much faster and more securely than anything currently on the market.
Chrome also isolates each separate tab that is opened in the browser, making sure that the browser never crashes.
Chrome's deployment marked a new threat to Internet Explorer, the Microsoft browser which has seen its market share drop almost 20 percent to just 73 percent in the four years since its open source rival Firefox came out.
But Google, the world's leading Internet company, has far loftier ambitions for Chrome than merely taking another chunk out of Internet Explorer. Google's goal is for Chrome to accelerate the move to browser-based applications on devices from PCs to cellphones.

SMS and Email Pen (Sends And Saves What You Write)
D:Scribe is a digital fountain pen that allows users to send SMS and email messages from paper. Just write out the message and circle the persons name to send.
This does away with a keypad and allows you to focus on communicating in a more personal way from anywhere as long as you have a bluetooth enabled phone and a surface to write on. The pen also records everything you write which can be accessed on a computer. Of course for the creative peeps, if writing doesnt suit your fancy, the D:Scribe also works with genius and not so genius drawings of brilliance.
The design is loosely based on a quill and inkwell where by the quill is the writing apparatus and the inkwell is an electromagnetic induction charger.
Once a message is sent, the status is displayed on the built-in OLED screen. The designers have also expanded its capabilities beyond that of messaging. Should your home electronics and appliances be bluetooth enabled, you could potentially program the pen to input commands by writing in the air. A little abstract but lets pretend this idea is more a patent for possibilities.

You really don’t need to tweak your browser in case you are using Firefox because it is a browser which has been specially designed for optimized and fast browsing but if you can make it even a little more fast that would certainly be a treat for you. Likewise there is a trick to make Internet Explorer 6 fast too. Browsers are designed to work with fast connections but with this trick even dial-up users can experience fast and smooth browsing.

It doesn’t require you to be some expert rather all you have to do is change some registry values and you are done. I have also included a video tutorial for those who want to see it step by step visually. This is perhaps one of the oldest tricks to optimize Firefox and IE but it still works great.

2. Double click network.http.pipelining and set it to True
3. Double click network.http.pipelining.maxrequests and set value to 10 from 4
4. Right click and create a new string nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0

Ever wanted to download a video you found from pretty much every site with an embedded video object? Well now you can simply and quickly in just a few clicks.
First of all get over to: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2390
Click on the Install button and install the add on into Firefox, restart Firefox and then find the video you want to download. When you are on the page with the video playing click the icon in the status bar at the bottom right of the firefox window and a window will appear. On the window click the Download button and wait for the download to complete. You can then watch the video in your FLV player (if you don't have one, then the plug in recommends FLV Player
You may need to change the file extension of the downloaded file to .flv, to do this right click on the file icon and click Rename, then add ".flv" (without the quotation marks) to the end of the file name.
There are tips provided on the plug in website about how you can convert it to other file formats.
