Memorex MVBD-2510 Blu-ray player

Memorex MVBD-2510 Blu-ray player

Move over, Sony. There is a new Blu-ray player in town that is much cheaper than the PS3. Memorex is back with the MVBD-2510 Blu-ray player, retailing for $269.99 complete with a full line of BD cleaning and storage accessories. Inside this (relatively) affordable package lies advanced Blu-ray playback technology crammed in a sleek design that boasts brushed metal accents as well as a white LED display that adds to the sophisticated look which will definitely bear compliments from whoever drops by your living room.

Some of the more advanced technical features include full HD resolution support of 1080p as well as video frame rates of 24p and 60p. Not only that, you also get to enjoy the Bonus View 1.1 feature, enabling special functions such as Picture-in-Picture viewing to let you watch additional content while the movie is being played. It does make me wonder though - why would you settle for a small segment of the screen showing the director’s commentary or some other featurette while the main show is playing in the background? Unless your brain is powerful enough to concentrate on both aspects simultaneously, I would say this is a nice feature to have but when it comes to practicality, there is nothing going for it.

Audio playback features found on the Memorex MVBD-2510 consist of Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio decoding and bit stream output. In addition, you will also get Master Audio bit stream output. Enjoy 7.1 HDMI digital audio output and 5.1 analog audio output right in the comfort of your living room, so make sure that home theater audio system is on par with whatever movie you wish to immerse yourself in. Blu-ray isn’t the only format that the MVBD-2510 supports as it reads BD-ROM, DVD+ROM, DVD-R/DVD-RW, DVD+R/DVD+RW, CD-ROM, CD-R/CD-RW and JPEG on DVD/CD recordable media too.
